The impact of design within prisons is a subject matter commonly disregarded.
Yet, we are housing 10.74 million people in prisons worldwide, most of which are archaic environments of punishment and as a result, we have an unsustainable cycle of reoffending and incarceration. In prisons, suicide, violence and poor mental health are at an all time peak, and this undoubedly has a relationship with the environment we are housing inmates in - a commonly problematic discussion.

A re-format of my dissertation writing, this publication offers a curation of research, experiences and perspectives. Aspects such as furniture, colour and
the incorporation of nature are explored, as well as a photographic insight into Halden Prison in Norway.
